Abstract:
In this talk I will give a review of recent theoretical and experimental studies of different types of layered superconducting metamaterials. The focus will be made on the properties of Dirac metamaterials which consist of superconducting films and graphene layers (or topological insulators) and also on the physics of superconductor - ferromagnet layered structures. Both the microscopic electronic properties and the electrodynamic response of these systems will be discussed.
The Dirac - type electronic spectra will be shown to provide a unique possibility to engineer the characteristics of the layered structures and their magnetic response. The interplay of two types of orderings in superconductor - ferromagnet layered systems will be shown to result in a variety of fascinating quantum mechanical phenomena on a macroscopic scale.
